Review: Forever If Ever
Tuesday, September 6th, 2011 marked the release of Jon McLaughlin’s new album, Forever If Ever. I wrote this short review on iTunes and thought I’d share it here, as well:
In an industry congested with over-produced music from artists lacking authentic talent, Jon McLaughlin’s first independent record, Forever If Ever, demonstrates authenticity at it’s finest. Real music, real vocals, all written and performed by a very real McLaughlin who has spent over two years creating a record that will undoubtedly invoke real responses from listeners.
From unyielding, upbeat tracks such as “What I Want” to apprehensive, emotional ballads like “Maybe It’s Over” (a duet with The Voice standout, Xenia), McLaughlin demonstrates depth and range while maintaining a methodically consistent sound for this third, full-length release. Music fans who’ve grown weary of vocally affected and studio altered music, will undoubtedly connect with Forever If Ever’s unmistakably authentic sound.
While buying this album and setting it to play on repeat comes with high recommendation from this reviewer, you can’t fully experience McLaughlin’s music until you attend a live performance. The release of Forever If Ever also signifies the beginning of a Fall U.S. and Canada Tour. Catch a show near you and complete an experience that will raise the bar for your personal music standards.
